Heading and button labels
Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read
The Appearance section holds the three pieces of copy the customer sees: Offer heading, Accept button label and Decline button label. The heading is yours to write; the two button labels are dropdowns you choose from.
Everything else — layout, colors, fonts, spacing — comes from Shopify's checkout styling and cannot be changed from Hype. That is by design: the offer inherits the look of your checkout, so it matches whatever branding you have set in the checkout and accounts editor.
Offer heading
A free-text field. It appears at the top of the offer on all three surfaces.
If you leave it empty, the offer falls back to "A special offer for you".
Write it as an offer, not a label: "Add a spare filter for 20% off" beats "Special offer". On the post-purchase page the heading sits above an automatically written line that names the product and its discount, so the heading does not need to repeat the price.
Accept button label
A dropdown with five options:
- Add to order (the default)
- Yes, add it
- Add and save
- Claim this offer
- Take the deal
Decline button label
A dropdown with four options:
- No thanks (the default)
- Decline
- Decline offer
- Skip this offer
Why the labels are dropdowns
Shopify's App Store rules for post-purchase offers require accept and decline copy to be preset rather than free text, so both fields are lists you pick from. This is not a temporary limitation of the form — arbitrary button copy is not allowed on this surface.
If you configured an upsell before this rule applied and typed your own labels, the form now shows the closest default (Add to order / No thanks) and your saved upsell switches to that preset the next time you save it.
Where the labels appear
- Post-purchase page — the accept label is the button on each product card; the decline label is the link at the bottom. Once the customer has accepted something, that link becomes Continue to order confirmation instead, so it never reads like cancelling the purchase.
- Thank-you page and Checkout — the accept label is the button on each product row, with the discounted price under it; the decline label is a link under the offer that dismisses it.
The buttons also carry states you do not control: Sold out when the chosen variant is unavailable, a loading state while the offer is being added, and Added or "✓ Added to your order" afterwards.
Preview
The Preview panel beside the form draws the offer as the surface you selected renders it, using your current heading, labels, products and discount. Switch the Surface field and the preview follows.
It is a mock, not a live render: real checkout extensions cannot run inside the Shopify admin. Prices in the preview come from what was captured when you picked the products, so treat it as a layout and copy check rather than a price check. See The price shown is wrong.
Languages
Copy is stored for a single language — the one you type into the form. Customers checking out in another language see the same heading and labels; only Shopify's own surrounding chrome is translated.
