Discount codes for your plan

Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read

If the Hype team has given you a code for your subscription, redeem it on the Plan page before you approve the subscription in Shopify. Click Have a discount code?, enter the code, and click Apply. The page confirms what the code does before you commit to anything.

These are codes for your Hype bill. They are not the discount codes you create for your customers.

Redeem a code

  1. Open Plan in Hype Upsell.
  2. Below the plan choices, click Have a discount code?.
  3. Type the code into the Discount code field. Type it rather than pasting it — a code copied out of an email can carry invisible characters that stop it being recognized.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Read the confirmation. It names the code and what it changes, for example a fixed price for a number of cycles, or extra trial days.
  6. Approve the subscription. The code is attached to the subscription at that moment.

The order matters. A code applies when the subscription is created, so a code entered after you have already approved does not attach to it.

What a code can do

  • A percentage off for a set number of cycles.
  • A fixed price for a set number of cycles, whatever tier your orders reach in them.
  • A fixed tier — you are billed as though you were on a particular tier, sometimes permanently, however many orders you take.
  • Extra trial days on top of the standard 7.

Once applied, the Plan page shows Discount code [code] applied alongside your current tier, and the reduced amount is what appears in Billing history.

One code per store

A store can have one plan discount code. If a code has already been applied, applying a second one is refused with A code has already been applied to this store. Ask support if you need it changed.

Why a code was refused

The message tells you which of these it is:

MessageWhat it means
Enter a discount codeThe field was empty.
That code is not valid for this storeThe code does not exist, or it was issued for a different store.
That code has expiredPast its end date.
That code has been fully redeemedIts redemption limit has been used up.
That code does not apply to this planIt was issued for a different Hype app, or for a single app when you are buying the Suite (or the reverse). Switch to the choice it was issued for.

Free access is not a code

Some stores are granted free access until a date — during a preview period, for example. That is applied by the Hype team to your store directly; there is nothing to redeem. The Plan page shows a banner naming the date, and nothing is charged before it. Pick a plan for when it ends; the choice sits there unapproved until you want it.

Free access granted in any one Hype app applies to all four.

Getting a code

Codes are issued by the Hype team, usually during an onboarding conversation or as a resolution to a support ticket. There is no public code and no code field on the App Store listing. Ask in the in-app chat — see Getting help.
